MHS Writing Winners

Congratulations to Chasity Brantley on receiving honorable mention in the most recent MHS Narrative Writing Competition! Way to show your Troubadour Pride!

Concert Attire

Concert Attire is how we dress for concert band performances at MHS. How we look matters just as much as how we sound.

Concert band students are asked to wear a standard outfit that each family can purchase on their own.  There are many different variations that you can choose, but I ask that you stay away from shirts, pants, and dresses that have "patterns" even if they are black.

I have made every attempt to create a Concert Band uniform that will not only look professional on stage but also utilize many items of clothing that our students already own (i.e. black pants, black shirt/blouse, black shoes, etc.)

Men:
  • Long sleeve, button down, black dress shirt (NO SHORT SLEEVES! This includes polos)
  • Black dress pants
  • Black socks
  • Black dress shoes (not tennis shoes or Converse or Vans)
  • Solid black tie (optional but encouraged)
  • All items Solid Black, no patterns (see attached examples)

Women:
1st choice:
  • Black dress or black blouse and black skirt (below the knee or longer.  No sleeveless tops; conservative neckline)
  • Black Shoes (flats or heels, must be closed-toe, no excessive heels [stay 3 inches or
below please])
  • All Items solid black, no decorative additions (see attached examples)

2nd choice:
  • Black blouse, must be short sleeved (no sleeveless tops)
  • Black dress pants
  • Black socks or tights
  • Black shoes (flats or heels, must be closed-toe, no excessive heels [stay 3 inches or below please])
  • All items solid black, no patterns (see attached examples)

Absolutely no:
  • Black jeans
  • Tennis shoes/Vans/Converse
  • Leggings (tights are acceptable with a dress)
  • Tunics or long shirts
  • Patterns

Troubadour of the Week

Good morning!

We are starting a new student award called Troubadour of the Week. Section leaders and captains within the Marching Troubadours nominate an outstanding student each week who exemplifies pride, persistence, positivity, and excellence. Two students will be selected each week.

This week, the winners are Luke Emiliano and Hannah Sommers!

Luke is an 8th grade rookie in the Marching Troubadours, meaning that this is his first year marching. Luke's attitude is continually positive no matter his circumstances. From cleaning up trash on the practice field that isn't his to hustling from set to set during marching rehearsal, Luke stays excited and ready to learn in all circumstances. He takes instruction immediately and is always looking to do his best. Way to go, Luke!

Hannah is a senior danceline member who is a veteran member of the Troubadours. Hannah always has a smile on her face and gives her all in every rehearsal. She maintains an attitude of positivity and kindness in every situation. She treats her peers with respect and is always lifting up others. Thanks for all you do, Hannah!
