This is our yearly parent night, we will fill out permission slips, health forms, etc....
Need copy of insurance card and any payments. 
Parents can order their shirts $10
Auxiliary parents - we need to have a short meeting afterward and you do not have to bring your insurance card, I already have it.

2017 Auxiliary

Auxiliary Band Camp

I am adding two days to the front of band camp.  Dance and Guard will begin on Monday, July 17th - 21st from 1:00 to 5:00.  This will give you a whole week to learn your routines.  Majorettes will begin on Wednesday the 19th.

Auxiliary Retreat - July 21st - 22nd - More Info coming soon.

Rookie Camp starts Wednesday, July 19th in the morning.  (Isabella, AJ, & Haley)

I would like to meet with all Auxiliary members after the Meet and Greet with Mrs. Underwood, Thursday, July 6th at 5:30 in the PAC. (Performing Art Center)

Band Uniform Update! Uniform Sizing Tomorrow!


Parents and Students,
Upon Mr.Turner and the students request I am continuing the uniform process so that they can arrive as soon as possible. I am pleased to announcement that the band has selected a uniform company and is beginning to finalize the order. For this order to go through I need all of the current Troubadours help including seniors!!!
To have the most accurate order possible all current Troubadours need to be sized for the new uniform. This helps in selecting sizes that will fit our current and future band. Mr. Ford from Fruhauf will be at Montevallo Middle School tomorrow morning at 8:00am to size all current 8th graders and then at Montevallo High School at 9:00am to size all high school students. If you are not taking an exam you do not have to check in to get sized, if you are taking an exam you can come after first period. I apologize for the short notice, but we are working on a very tight deadline. Please spread the word the more students we size the more accurate the order will be.

Weekly Announcements

Parents and Students,
The MHS Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Jazz Combo did an outstanding job this past Thursday at the MHS Spring Concert. As the year draws to a close we only have a few more band events left. Please make sure to check the blog regularly during the summer for additional announcements and information. Here is the weeks announcements:

  • The Montevallo Middle School Spring Concert is this Tuesday, May 9th, at 6:00pm. Call time is 4:00pm for band students. Come out and support these students and all of their hard work. 


  • The Montevallo High School Band Banquet is this Thursday, May 11th, at 7:00pm at the University of Montevallo's Student Activities Center. If you have not paid for your banquet tickets please do so ASAP. All money can be turned into the band room.

It is concert week for Montevallo High School! I hope to see everyone at our spring concert This Thursday at 7.p.m. in the Montevallo High School Performing Art Center. Here are the announcements for the week:

Elementary Performance
This Tuesday the Montevallo Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Jazz Combo will be performing for the 5th grade at Montevallo elementary. This is a great opportunity to recruit and share our talents with the community. Here is the Itinerary for this event: Elementary Concert Band Performance.

Spring Concert

Save the date! The 2017 Montevallo Band Banquet will be Thursday, May 11th at 7:00pm. 

Section Leader/Drum Major Auditions & Interviews
May 1st and 3rd will be interviews for any leadership council member interested in a section leader, drum major, or band captain position. This is a formal job interview. May 5th will be Drum Major Audition. Auditions will start during 8th period and continue after school.

Chicago Trip Recap

Parents and Students,
As we have all returned to work and school today I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who attended our Spring Trip. It was an absolute joy to travel with each of you and I thank everyone for helping make "Troubadours in the Windy City" such a success!
Chaperones, Mrs. Cabrera and I could not have done it without you. Thank you for everything you did on this trip to make sure our students were safe and well taken care of. I am constantly telling the students that I teach the best students in our school. I am also fortunate to have the best parents at the school as well. Thank you again for everything you do.
To help continue to make the spring trip the best possible experience for everyone please take a few minutes to complete this google survey. Your responses will be considered as we start preparing for Spring Trip 2018!

The Troubadours are back from the windy city! The spring trip was a great time and I thank all of our Chaperones for there help and all of our students for being Great Ambassadors for our community. Sell, sell, sell! 2 days until order forms are due! All order forms and money need to be turned in by April 18th.

Spring Band Trip
We leave for Chicago this Wednesday! To prepare for this event we will have rehearsal tomorrow until 5:00pm and a Chaperone meeting at 5:30. It is very important that all chaperones and students attend these final events in preparation for the trip.

To be selected for All-state Allison competed against hundreds of other performers for the opportunity, truly demonstrating that she is one of our states top players! Rooming lists will be posted and group sign-up will be completed at the first rehearsal.

Week Update: Spring Concert moved to May 4th

Parents and Students,
I hope everyone is staying safe and dry as this weather travels through the state. Since this Sunday's post we have had a couple more announcements come up:

  • The Spring Concert has been moved. The spring concert that was scheduled for May 2nd has been moved to May 4th at 6:00pm. This change was made to better accommodate the high school and middle school calendar. If you have a conflict with the new date let me know ASAP. 
  • The First Auxiliary Payment of $200 is due by April 14th. The Auxiliary will also be hosting a fundraiser at Lucky's this Friday to help cover the auxiliary costs. 
  • Since it is a rainy day and everyone is stuck inside it is a great day to get online and do some fundraising!!! Share this link: http://www.mixedbagdesigns.com/?fundraiserid=654341 and ask for support for the new Troubadour uniform. Every dollar helps!
Finally Students, I will be at All-State Thursday and Friday. During class on those days you should spend time with your sections on difficult passages in our concert music. Section assignments will be listed on the board.

Bag Fundraiser
The Montevallo Marching Troubadours are kicking off a new fundraiser to help raise the remaining funds needed for the new band uniforms. We will be working with Mixedbag Design and selling their bags and kitchen product. All proceeds go directly to purchasing the uniform!!!

All order forms and money need to be turned in by April 17th.

Weekly Announcements

Parents and Students,
The program I use to send the blog posts to our Facebook page is currently having technical difficulties. Until this issue is fixed I will forward along the weekly announcement's through the email group. Here are the weeks announcements:

  • This Tuesday is Jazz Band rehearsal 3:15-4:30. 
  • This Thursday the Montevallo Band Program will be performing at the Montevallo Elementary "Night of Music." The MHS Jazz Combo will be performing along with numerous solo and ensemble groups from MHS and MMS. Please come out and support these great musicians. The event is from 5:30-7:30pm. Here is a letter and schedule for Thursday: MES "Night of Music" Letter and Itinerary
  • This Thursday the Marching Troubadour's will start a bag fundraiser with Mixedbagdesigns to help fundraise the remaining $10,000 dollars needed for the new band uniform. This is an outstanding fundraiser that sell product you can use everyday, and also includes an online element for friends and family that are out of town but would like to contribute. All the information will be sent out Thursday. All money and forms will be due to me on April 18th. Please help the band achieve its goal to order and have our new uniforms before the end of next Marching season!
  • With Spring break the following week the next "Weekly Announcement" will be sent out April 1st.

  • Big Band Rehearsal starts this Tuesday from 3:15-4:30!
  • This Thursday we have Troubadour Tutoring.
  • A new account statement will be sent home tomorrow. Parents please keep in mind that all fees need to be paid before spring break. 
  • If you are chaperoning the Chicago trip and you have not complete your background check please do so ASAP. This also must be completed by spring break.

  • Uniform fitting is tomorrow afternoon in Mrs. Cabrera's classroom.

Parents and Students,
If you have not already completed the uniform recommendation survey please do so by this Friday. The more input we have the easier it will be to create a uniform that represents our community: Uniform Recommendation Survey.

  • This week is auxiliary auditions for the 2017-2018 Marching Troubadours. Auditions will be Friday with clinics throughout the week. It is vital that all students planning on trying out attend each clinic. 
  • Big Band forms are due this Wednesday for any student planning on participating. Here is a copy of the form: Big Band Letter.
  • Troubadour Tutoring Forms for the 4th 9 Weeks are also due this Wednesday. Troubadour Tutoring Letter.
  • Troubadour Tutoring is this Thursday.

New Band Uniforms




Parents and Students,
We have some exciting news at MHS! With the help of the Montevallo Community and Montevallo High School the Marching Troubadours will be getting new band Uniforms!!! The hope is to have the new uniforms before the end of the 2017 Marching Season!
Getting new uniforms is a long and meticulous process and we could use every past and present, Troubadour's help to make our goal a reality. There are two main way's that anyone can help:
  1. Fundraising!!! Purchasing new uniforms will cost close to $40,000. We are very fortunate to have a sizable donation through the school to cover the majority of these cost however we are roughly $10,000 short of our goal. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated.   2. Input!!! Our goal is to have a sharp, traditional uniform that will be a point of pride in the community and will represent the Marching Troubadours for years to come. Our great uniform committee has already been hard at work creating a general idea for what we want the uniform to look like but now we want everyone's opinion and input. The more community members, alumni, parents, and student input we have the easier it will be to create a uniform that reflects our Marching Troubadours. Weekly Announcements

Parents and Students,
Congratulations to Troubadours: Ella Alexander, Brett Terrill, William Landers, Alyse Jones, Rebecca Emiliano, Janie Gray, and Emily Haynie, for their participation in the 2017 Montevallo Middle School Honor Band. Also congratulations to future Troubadours: Cameron Moreland, Jeffrey Green, Olivia Gilbert, and Allie Tryon for their participation!

Here are the announcements for the week.
  • Tuesday, February 28th, The Troubadour Auxiliary will be hosting an informational meeting about try-outs this year. Any students planning on trying out must be in attendance with a parent. The meeting it at 6:00pm in the PAC. 
  • Thursday, March 2nd, the Montevallo Concert Band will travel to Homewood High School for the Alabama Bandmasters Associations Music Performance Assessment. Here is the itinerary for this event: MPA Itinerary. The band will wear its concert uniform for this performance: white top, black pants, black shoes and belt. 
  • If parents would like to chaperone our MPA trip next Thursday please email Mr. Rogers.
  • We will not have Troubadour Tutoring this Thursday. A new schedule for the 4th nine weeks will go out this week.

Pep Band is Not going to Montgomery

Parents and Students,
Thank you to everyone who volunteered to take the Pep Band to Montgomery tomorrow. Unfortunately we do not have enough drivers to make the trip happen. If the boys continue in the Tournament we will plan to travel with them next week to the Final Four. I appreciate everyone who offered to help.

Basketball Play-off Update #2

Parents and Students,
We are still in the process of trying to send the Montevallo Pep Band to the Basketball game tomorrow. The trip has been approved, all we need now is volunteer drivers for Transportation. If you are a parent and would be willing to drive please complete the volunteer driver form (Link: Driver Form). Currently we need only a couple more drivers to make this trip a reality. Parents would need to be on campus by 11:30pm and we will return by 5:30pm.
If we have a enough drivers each students will need to turn in the following to go on the trip:

  1. Permission Slip (Link: Play-off Permission Slip)
  2. $8 for admission (There is a high probability that we will not have to pay admission, but until I am given a definitive response be prepared!)
*Students without the two items will not be able to go on the trip.*

Parents have until 7:00 to email me if they can drive. I will post on the blog whether we will be able to make the trip or not at 7:30. Thank you to everyone that has helped with this process today.

Basketball Play-off Game Update

Pep Band,
Unfortunately we will not be able to take a bus to the play-off game on Wednesday. Instead we will have to use volunteer drivers to travel to and from the game. Attached you will find a link to an itinerary/ permission slip and a volunteer driver form. All pep-band members need to complete the permission slip and turn it in to me ASAP. Parents, if you are willing to transport students to the game on Wednesday please complete the volunteer driver form and email it to me with the number of students you can fit in your car. This trip is dependent on having enough volunteer drivers to transport the entire pep band and equipment. At this time I am unclear about the AHSAA guidelines when it comes to pep band. There is also a chance that all pep band members will be required to purchase a ticket for entry into the game.

Weekly Announcements, FINAL TRIP PAYMENT DUE WEDNESDAY


Parents and Students,
Congratulations to Nate Pepper, Eddie Anthony, Katie Ozley, Janie Gray, Alyse Jones, Rebeca Emiliano, Thomas Frost, Allison McCurdy, Brett Terrill, and Luke Emiliano for representing Montevallo at the Shelby County All-County Honor Band Festival. These students, along with students from around the county, put on a fantastic concert yesterday. The high school band had the unique experience of working with Anthony Maiello, a nationally recognized band clinician and conductor.

Here are the announcements for the week:

  • The FINAL Chicago Trip Payment is DUE this Wednesday, Feb. 22!!! Students will also be given a rooming sign-up sheet Tuesday to turn in with their payment Wednesday. If you are paying for a double (+$65 per person), or triple(+$23 per person) occupancy room add that balance to your final payment. 
  • After the Basketball team's victory last night the Montevallo Pep-Band has a chance to travel to Montgomery Wednesday to support the team in their next game. This trip is still in the early planning phase. Due to the limited preparation time, and the fact that we are out of school tomorrow, there is a high possibility that the band will not be able to make this trip. As I collect information, I will get it out to students and parents as quickly as possible. Please check the Blog frequently for more information.
  • This Thursday we will have Troubadour Tutoring.
  • Also this Thursday the Troubadour Auxiliary will be traveling to Montevallo Middle School to host an information session about Auxiliary Try-outs.

Pep Band Game Tomorrow

Parents and Students,
The Montevallo Boy's Basketball Team continues in the AHSAA Basketball Tournament tomorrow in our sub-regional game against Holy Family High School. The Game starts at 7:00pm. Pep Band will play at this event, Call Time is 6:20pm. If you can not make this game please notify Mr. Rogers via email ASAP.

Weekly Announcements

Parents and Students,

Congratulations to Elizabeth Hughston and Rachel Moran for participating in the Auburn University Honor Band!

Here are the announcements for the week:

  • The Montevallo Concert Band will collaborating with Montevallo Elementary for a "Music in our schools" Month concert on March 23rd, 5:30-7:30pm at MES. This will be a required performance. Please put it in your calendar.
  • This Thursday is the Shelby County Solo Festival at Helena High School starting at 5:30pm. 
  • This Friday and Saturday is the Shelby County Honor Band. Here is the information and times for the event: Shelby County Honor Band & Solo Festival Information.
  • The Montevallo Basketball Team won Friday night and will be moving onto the state tournament. The Pep Band will make every attempt to participate in this event, however we have events of our own this week that may conflict. More information about this game will be sent out as soon as all of the details are know. 
  • The next and final trip payment is due February 22nd. If you are paying for a double or triple occupancy room the difference is also due at this time.

Pep Band Play-off Schedule

Pep Band,
This week the varsity boys will play their first two games of the AHSAA Basketball Tournament at home. The first game is Wednesday 2/8 at 5:00pm and, provided we win on Wednesday, Friday 2/10 at 6:00pm. Here is the schedule for the two games:

  • Play-off Game #1, Wednesday Feb. 8th @5:00pm
    • Calltime: 4:00pm
  • Play-off Game #2, Friday Feb. 10th @6:00pm
    • Calltime: 5:00pm

Weekly Announcements

Parents and Students,
Congratulations to all of our new 8th grade Beta club inductees: Emily Haynie, Rebecca Emiliano, Ella Alexander, Janie Gray, Jazmine Williams, and William Landers. Congratulations to Michaela Martin for participating in the Troy University Honor Band. Way to represent the Troubadours and demonstrate how band students are the best a brightest students in our school! Here are the announcements for the week:

  • The Basketball Pep Band Game scheduled for Monday has been cancelled.
  • The Pep Band will perform this coming Wednesday 2/8 and Friday 2/10 at the District Tournament. Call time will be announced Tuesday. 
    • If the Basketball teams moves into the play-offs we will travel to Montgomery the following week, more information to follow.
  • This Thursday we will have Troubadour Tutoring. There are still spots if students would like to sign up!
