Carbon Hill Meal and the Texas A&M Band

Parents and Students,
After my announcements yesterday I realized I forgot to mention two other items.

  1. With this weeks game being further away we will again feed the Troubadours at 3:00pm. If you are willing to help donate supplies please sign-up at this link: Carbon Hill Sign-up.
  2. This Saturday, October 22nd, the Texas A&M "Fightin' Texas Aggie Band" will be stopping at Helena High School to rehearse on their way to Tuscaloosa. The rehearsal is open to the public and will be from 9:30 - 11:00am. The Texas A&M band is one of the nations best collegiate marching bands and watching them rehearse would be a great experience for all past, future, and current Troubadours. Attending this rehearsal will also complete the "Outside performance" requirement for all band members for the 2nd 9 weeks.
Have a great week,
Mr. Rogers

Even with some very tough judging they received a superior in band, majorettes, dance-line, percussion, and drum major, and an excellent in color guard. As you can see it was an outstanding season for the Marching Troubadours! Thank you to all of the band parents who have donated food, water, and most importantly, their time and support, to the Troubadours this season. This season would not have been the same without your support. Also, thank you to the troubadour leadership team and seniors for your outstanding leadership and guidance. These students did a great job of leading by example and putting the needs of their section and band before their own. Finally a HUGE thank you to every member of the Montevallo Marching Troubadours for such an outstanding season. Since day one of band camp, way back in July, to this past Saturday; the Troubadours have shown up to every rehearsal ready to improve and help their teammates. They have made it such a joy to come to rehearsal each and every day. I speak for Mrs. Cabrera and I both when I say, we are truly blessed to have such outstanding students and parents.

Even though Saturday concludes our competitive marching season, the Troubadours will continue as ambassadors for the Montevallo community and Montevallo high school throughout football season. This week we will start limited rehearsals, which will continue for the remainder of the season. Troubadours rehearsal will now be only on Thursday from 3:15 - 5:15pm. Since the Troubadours only rehearse one day a week, it is critical that every member is at each rehearsal. Students will not have an opportunity to review what they missed at any other point in the week. Please keep this in mind when scheduling doctor and other appointments.

Here are the announcements for the week:

  • The Troubadours will start limited rehearsals this week. Rehearsal for the remainder of the season will be only on Thursdays from 3:15 - 5:15pm.
  • This week the Montevallo Bulldogs take on the Carbon Hill Bulldogs. Here is the itinerary for this week: Montevallo - Carbon Hill Itinerary
  • If you would like to purchase a Troubadour jacket the due date for payment and order forms has been extended to Wednesday, October 19th.  Here is the order form: Troubadour Jacket Order Form.
  • This past Tuesday, the Troubadours kicked off its annual meat fundraiser. Students will have the month of October to sell. Order forms are due back to the school no later than November 2nd. Meat will be delivered the week before Thanksgiving. For each item sold, $5 will go towards your child's fair share or trip account. All checks need to be made out to MHS Band.
  • Our Fall Concert is just two weeks away! The Montevallo Symphonic Band and Jazz Combo will perform its Fall Concert on Tuesday, November 1st, at 7:00pm. Admission is Free.
  • Please keep in mind that the uniform for all symphonic band performances has changed this year. The new uniform is black (closed toe) shoes, black socks, black slacks or khaki pants, black belt, and a white button down and collared shirt, or (for ladies) a nice white blouse.
Thank you again and as always, Go Marching Troubadours!!!
